"Parade"
In the year 2005, Barbie embarked on another chapter in her journey as an artist, as new musicians joined her, adding a new touch
and flavor to the music she has created. Further, the release of her debut album as a solo artist entitled PARADE was also an
important step for Barbie, as it marked a new season in her life as a musician. As a progression in Barbie’s passion for life and
music, the said album includes hit singles such as Dahilan, High (a collaboration with an international band, The Speaks),
Summer Day (theme of one of the Sunsilk commercials) and Barbie’s rendition of the Eraserheads’ hit, Overdrive.
Parade is a proof therefore, not just of a young woman’s musical talent but the heart of a poet and an artist as well. As an
exceptional songwriter, Barbie has written a couple of original songs for the album, such as Damsel, Sorry Song, Parading, Little
Miss Spider, and For the World. In addition to this, the album did not just showcase Barbie’s poetic adroitness but revealed another poet’s skill through the 2nd track in the album, Give Yourself Away, which was written by Bebo Bharwani. Moreover, Pag- alis, a song included in Barbie’s Cradle’s debut and self- titled album is also included in Parade. Lastly, 012, the twelfth track in the album, is a song recorded by Barbie with her former band mates Rommel Dela Cruz, Wendell Garcia and Kakoy Legazpi.
The members of Barbie Almalbis’ current band are Karel Honasan on bass, former bandmate Franklin Benitez on drums and Adrian Morales on keyboards.
