Barbie Almalbis’ contribution to the Philippine music scene has been remarkable. Different themes, influences, and life's events made an impact in the music she has created. A singer, guitarist and songwriter, Barbie’s influence on the Philippine music industry has been a product of hard work, life’s experiences and spiritual fervor.

In this connection, Barbie Almalbis’ journey through life and music began when HUNGRY YOUNG POETS entered the music scene in the Philippines and made a notable difference. The previously- mentioned group of young musicians together with Sony Music Philippines released their self-titled album in the year 1998. With a theme of love, friendship and relationships, the said craft showcased the band’s hits such as Torpe and the phenomenal hit Firewoman. Moreover, it included songs such as Clear, Drowning, Maniwala Ka, Personal Flirt, Rebirth, Stars, Deep, Panahon, Radio, Runaway and The Dance.

HYP is Barbie Almalbis on guitar and vocals, Ricci Gurango on Bass and Franklin Benitez on drums.
